Pegadaian’s Corporate Secretary Champion 2026 recognition highlights the company’s focus on governance, reputation, digital transformation and international business expansion.

JAKARTA — Corporate reputation is increasingly becoming a strategic asset for financial institutions seeking to expand their business beyond traditional markets. For companies operating across multiple stakeholder groups, credibility is closely connected with governance, transparency, communication and the ability to maintain consistent standards while pursuing growth.

PT Pegadaian’s recognition at the Corporate Secretary Champion 2026 reflects this broader dimension of corporate reputation. The company received the Winner of Indonesia Best Corporate Secretary for Governance Excellence 2026 award at an event organized by Majalah SWA in Jakarta on September 1, 2026. The award recognized the contribution of Pegadaian’s Corporate Secretary function, led by Dwi Hadi Atmaka, in strengthening governance and corporate communication with stakeholders.

The assessment covered several areas relevant to corporate credibility, including compliance, investor relations, government relations, media and public relations, corporate social responsibility and crisis-management handling. Pegadaian received a Very Good rating in the assessment. The judging process was conducted on July 7–9, 2026.

For a company with an increasingly diversified business portfolio, such governance capabilities become particularly relevant. Pegadaian has been moving from its historical identity as a pawn-based financial institution toward a broader financial-services and gold ecosystem. The company says it has more than 125 years of experience serving Indonesian communities while continuing to expand its digital and gold-based financial services.

The expansion is also taking place beyond Indonesia’s domestic market. In March 2026, Pegadaian inaugurated its first overseas branch in Timor-Leste. Located in Dili, the branch represents an initial step in the company’s international expansion and is part of the broader financial-inclusion strategy associated with the BRI Group’s Ultra Micro Holding.

The Timor-Leste expansion provides a different dimension to Pegadaian’s corporate positioning. International operations require companies to manage relationships with new customers, institutions, regulators and business partners while maintaining organizational standards. In such circumstances, corporate governance and stakeholder communication become relevant not only to domestic reputation but also to how a company presents itself in new markets.

At the same time, Pegadaian is strengthening its position in Indonesia’s emerging bullion industry. The company reported that its gold ecosystem had reached approximately 145 tonnes under management as of April 2026, including more than 20 tonnes in Gold Savings with a reported valuation above Rp51 trillion. The company also reported significant growth in Gold Installment outstanding loans.

Pegadaian’s involvement in the development of the Indonesia Bullion Market Association (IBMA) further illustrates the strategic direction of its business. In July 2026, industry participants held a plenary meeting at Pegadaian Tower to finalize the establishment of IBMA, with Pegadaian executive Selfie Dewiyanti elected as chairperson. The association is intended to connect stakeholders across areas including mining, financial services, refining, manufacturing and supporting businesses.

The company has also moved closer to Indonesia’s capital-market infrastructure through its cooperation with the Indonesia Central Securities Depository (KSEI). Pegadaian became a KSEI account holder in 2026, supporting the development of Electronic Gold Receipts and gold-related ETF infrastructure. This initiative connects the company’s bullion activities with a broader investment-market ecosystem.

The development of the gold ecosystem has continued with the launch of a gold ETF on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in August 2026. Pegadaian reported its role as the underlying provider for the product, representing another step in the integration of physical gold, bullion services and capital-market investment instruments.

These developments indicate that Pegadaian’s growth strategy is not limited to increasing the scale of its existing financial services. The company is building connections among retail financial services, digital platforms, bullion operations, investment products and international business.

That expansion also increases the importance of corporate reputation. As business relationships become more complex, stakeholders need access to accurate and timely information about a company’s activities, governance framework and strategic direction. Pegadaian identifies its Corporate Secretary function as an important part of maintaining corporate image and communicating material information to stakeholders.

Dwi Hadi Atmaka’s professional background also reflects experience across several functions within the organization. Pegadaian’s official profile records previous positions in regional leadership, business management, strategic performance and change management, auditing and risk management. He holds a master’s degree in management from Universitas Negeri Padang and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Universitas Andalas.

The importance of governance is further underscored by Pegadaian’s financial expansion. In the first half of 2026, the company reported net profit of Rp6.59 trillion, representing an 84.4% increase year on year. Total assets reached Rp186.33 trillion, while gross outstanding loans stood at Rp155.1 trillion.

Growth at this scale brings both opportunities and governance responsibilities. As Pegadaian develops new products, enters new markets and establishes relationships across financial and commodity ecosystems, maintaining consistent communication and accountability becomes part of managing the company’s broader corporate profile.

Dwi Hadi Atmaka said the Corporate Secretary recognition would encourage Pegadaian to continue improving governance and corporate communication. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining close and transparent stakeholder relationships in strengthening the company’s reputation.

Pegadaian’s Corporate Secretary Champion 2026 recognition therefore arrives alongside a period of significant transformation. Digitalisation, bullion-market development, capital-market integration and the company’s first international branch are expanding the scope of its business activities. Within that context, governance and reputation remain closely connected to how the company communicates its growth strategy and manages relationships across an increasingly diverse business landscape.
